Want to introduce a permit scheme?
Need to work on the highway?
Considering lane rental?
OPEN ROAD ASSOCIATES IS THE UK'S ONLY FULL-SERVICE CONSULTANCY FOR ORGANISATIONS WHO HAVE A LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR ROADS OR NEED TO WORK ON THE ROAD.
We are in the unique situation of having a 360-degree view of the highways industry.
Our support and advice is underpinned by a deep understanding of highways legislation, network management and both national and regional evaluation. We work with: highway authorities, developers and contractors, works promoters, central government, influencers, private companies and individuals.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
We have first-hand working knowledge of highway legislation and working practices, with over 30 years' collective experience.
We pride ourselves on providing independent and transparent advice, balancing any potential conflict professionally and through effective collaboration.
We think differently about challenges and produce innovative solutions, bringing a structured, intelligent approach to our work.
We work across the industry and our connections enable us to provide complete end-to-end advice and expertise.
We understand the difficulties organisations face when projects involve working on the highway - liaison with a Council to obtain permission, managing the traffic to undertake works and possibly negotiating fines from penalties.
It’s not always easy negotiating the legislation, statutory guidance and codes of practices you need to comply with.
We help gain the necessary approvals from the Council and carry out their works, reducing delays, minimising costs and building better relationships.
WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY
PERMIT & LANE RENTAL SCHEMES
Our team has unrivalled experience in the implementation, operation and evaluation of permit and lane rental schemes.
We were instrumental in the development of permit schemes; working with Kent County Council to design and implement the first scheme approved by the Transport Minister. Since then we have implemented ten permit schemes and continue to support Councils to evaluate and improve their permit scheme performance.
In 2013 we worked with Kent County Council to design and implement a pilot lane rental scheme, operating model and operational guidance.
Our knowledge of data, legislation and working practices allow us to help organisations improve their data-to-decision capabilities.
Using proven analytic methods, we undertake national and regional evaluation and research. Our backgrounds ranges from national evaluation of permit schemes and lane rental for the Department for Transport through to data extraction and analysis for local highway authorties.
We have unrivalled capabilities to collect and analyse roadworks and highways data at a granular level, and we present findings in formats that are easy to understand.
